WICHITA, Kan. — The Wichita Wind Surge closed the 2026 season with a 10-8 loss to the Frisco RoughRiders on Sunday afternoon at Equity Bank Park.
Wichita finished the season 30-39 after splitting the six-game series with Frisco.
The Wind Surge offense produced six multi-hit performances and finished with double-digit hits for the 38th time this season. Brandon Winokur led Wichita with four hits and three RBIs, while Marek Houston, Garrett Spain, Kyle DeBarge, Danny De Andrade and Luis Hernandez also had multiple hits.
Wichita took an early 2-0 lead, scoring once in each of the first two innings. Frisco answered with six runs in the third, highlighted by a solo home run and a three-run homer.
The Wind Surge chipped away at the deficit with runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pull within 6-4.
Frisco pushed the advantage back to five runs with three in the seventh, and the teams traded runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings to make it 10-6.
Wichita mounted one final rally in the ninth, scoring twice and bringing the potential tying run to the plate before Frisco ended the comeback attempt.
Preston Johnson started for Wichita and worked two scoreless innings before Frisco broke through in the third. Mitch Mueller and Kyle Bischoff each turned in scoreless relief appearances.
Houston extended his on-base streak to 10 games, while DeBarge reached safely for the ninth straight game. Spain recorded his 26th multi-hit game of the season and DeBarge collected his 27th.
Sunday's game also marked the end of the Wind Surge identity in Wichita. The club will return to Equity Bank Park in 2027 under a new name, the Wichita Turbo Tubs.
