The Reno County Farmer's Market returns this Saturday for its 40th season.
Joey Short, who managed the Wednesday market last year, will now oversee both Saturday and Wednesday markets, in addition to running the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) table.

“It’s looking really good,” a market representative said. “We’re going to have quite a few vendors, and we’re excited to celebrate 40 years.”
The Saturday market will run from May through the end of October. The Wednesday market opens June 4 and will close earlier than usual this year, ending on Sept. 24.
In addition to longtime favorites — including fresh produce, farm eggs, baked goods and flowers — this season introduces new features such as market sponsorships. For a $150 contribution, local businesses can sponsor live music and receive booth space, pending board approval.
Live music will continue to be a weekly staple. This Saturday’s entertainment will be provided by The Vero Trio Band. Information booths will also be present, including one this weekend hosted by Hutch and Harmony.
Shoppers can expect early-season produce such as green onions, spinach, kale, asparagus and cucumbers. Other offerings include kettle corn, sourdough breads, natural skincare products and bath items. A new sourdough vendor, previously exclusive to Wednesdays, will now appear on Saturdays.

One crowd favorite — roasted coffee — will be available again this year, alongside a coffee vendor offering fresh brews.
“It’s hard to believe it’s been 40 years,” the market representative said. “We really encourage people to come out and support our local arts, farmers and small businesses.”
