HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Monarchs got a walk-off win 6-5 Tuesday night at Hobart-Detter over the Cheney Diamond Dawgs.
In the bottom of the ninth, it was literally a walk that got the rally started, as Carter Young reached base with one down in the inning. Tanner White then lined to right and it looked like it was going to take extra innings to decide, but then Cole Cosman and Cooper Harris both walked and Young scored easily on a wild pitch with Noah Greise at the plate.
That was the fourth straight win for Hutchinson. Brent Herrmann got the win in relief. Mason Ashcraft was the losing pitcher.
The Monarchs are 25-9 on the year. The two teams wrap up their series Wednesday night in Cheney. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
