HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A familiar corner in north Hutchinson is getting a fresh start as Bailey Home Furnishings prepares to open its doors, bringing modern furniture and personalized service to the former Family Video building at 30th and Severance.
The locally owned store is the vision of Nathan and Tiffany Bailey, who signed a lease in April and began renovating the space shortly after. The couple formed the business in January, driven by Nathan’s 15 years of experience in the home furnishings industry and a shared desire to invest in the Hutchinson community.
“This is something that just came together through a lot of conversation, prayer and support from the people around us,” Nathan said. “We want this to be a place where people feel welcome and confident in what they’re buying.”
Renovations included a full interior repaint and the installation of two sets of double doors on the building’s west side to help move furniture in and out. A new fire-rated door was also added in the back of the showroom, creating a quiet, private area for mattress shopping.

“We’ve created a more intimate space for our mattress gallery,” Nathan said. “It’s tucked away from the main showroom, which we think will help people feel more comfortable when making that kind of personal purchase.”
Bailey Home Furnishings will feature a curated selection of sleek, comfortable pieces from trusted brands like Ashley and England. In fact, the business is the only certified Ashley dealer in Hutchinson. While the main focus will be living room furniture, the store will also showcase bedroom and dining sets, along with a digital catalog for custom orders.
“Our goal is to help people transform houses into homes,” Tiffany said. “This isn’t just about selling furniture, it’s about helping people create spaces they love to live in.”
Store hours will be Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store will be closed Sundays and Mondays. A grand opening celebration is expected later this summer.

Work is ongoing to install permanent signage, including a 7-foot-by-16-foot marquee panel that will replace the current “Family Video” lettering at the corner of 30th Avenue and Severance Street.
Nathan said the location was a key part of the decision. “This is the 50-yard line of 30th Street,” he said. “It’s always been a wonder why this building sat empty, and we’re proud to help bring it back to life.”
The Baileys expect to start with a small staff of four full-time employees, with the possibility of growing depending on customer demand.
“What will set us apart is our connection to people,” Nathan said. “We understand what good service feels like, and that’s what we want to deliver. We call our checkout area the ‘celebration station’ because buying new furniture should be a celebration, you've earned that comfort and style.”
Tiffany added, “The community has been amazing. Every step we’ve taken has been supported. We just feel incredibly humbled and excited to give back in our own way.”
The store’s motto: “The quality you expect. The service you deserve.”
