WICHITA — A Red Flag Warning is in effect from Noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Extreme Grassland Fire Danger is forecast.

Winds will be from the southwest 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph, with relative humidity as low as 14%.

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and become very difficult to control. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Also, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected in portions of central, south-central and southeast Kansas.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle and secure outdoor objects.
