George Alfred Ross, 92, of Hutchinson, died April 24, 2022. He was born March 21, 1930, on the family farm in Jewell County, to Gustav A. and Atta E. (Quick) Ross.
George graduated from Mankato High School in 1947 and attended Hutchinson Community College and Pittsburg State University. He served in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. George worked as a telegraph operator, railroad agent, and automotive technician and instructor. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. George was a member of 10th Avenue United Methodist Church.
On January 4, 1964, he married Linda K. Long, in Pueblo, CO. She survives.
Also surviving are: his children, Jandrea Blumanhourst (Doug) of Wichita; Ryan Ross (Jennifer) of Olathe; Gary Ross (Cindi Golson) of Wilsonville, AL; grandchildren, Kaylan Edwards (Trevor), Nathan Blumanhourst (Taylor), Alyssa Thornton (Evan), Drew Ross, Graham Ross; great-grandchildren, Emilyn, Michael, Elias, Olivia, Elspeth; sister, Letha Essinger (Don) of Fruitland, ID; and many extended family members.
George was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and sisters.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 10th Avenue United Methodist Church, 300 W 10th Ave., Hutchinson, with Rev. Richard G. Brooks officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Private family burial will be in Lyons Municipal Cemetery.
