Unemployment rate is down in September

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The unemployment rate fell in Reno County in the month of September as jobs continued to return following the pandemic shutdown.

The rate is down to 5.2%. It was 6.6% in August. 1,577 people are out of work and looking for it in the county.

Hutchinson's unemployment rate also declined from 7.5% in August to 5.9%. 1,133 people are out of work and looking for it in the city.

The state's unemployment rate was also down from 6.9% in August to 5.9% in September.
