Floyd C. Vratil, age 91, passed away November 11, 2021 at Hilltop Manor Nursing Center, Cunningham, Kansas.
He was born January 23, 1930 on the family farm near Larned, Kansas to Charles and Stephina (Svatos) Vratil.
Floyd married Marjorie Scovel, August 6, 1956 in Larned, Kansas. They were married for 45 years.
Floyd attended Larned High School graduating in 1948.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was a flight engineer and mechanic that keep the B-29s flying. His commanding officer called him a fine example of an outstanding airman.
He was a member of the Pratt area V.F.W. Post, and Pratt American Legion Post.
He worked for John Deere Company in Turon and Pratt, for many years before becoming a self-employed mechanic.
He loved to dance, play cards, fish and hunt. He enjoyed coffee and visiting at various places around town. He played baseball and softball and was an umpire. He served as a bat boy for the all Vratil baseball team in the 1930s.
He is survived by sons, Alan (Teresa) Vratil of Medicine Lodge, Ks; Greg (Rose) Vratil of Pratt, KS; daughters, Kelly (Bob) Freeman of Lawrence, KS; Jill (Kelvin) Clay of Goddard, KS; Julie (Seth) Eastlick of Wichita, KS; special friend, June Daughette.
10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Floyd is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Scovel; parents, brothers, Fritz, Elmer, Herman, Don, Otto, Joe, Earl and Harry; sisters, Silva, Ellen, Blanche and Esther.
Visitation Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 9:00 to 8:00 pm with family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, November 19, 2021 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt with Tom Harrison presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pratt B-29 Museum or the Pratt Humane Society in care of Larrison Funeral Home.
