Wichita State has a big head start on two of its future non-conference men's basketball schedules.
Head coach Paul Mills and Director of Athletics Kevin Saal announced today that the Shockers have booked a home-and-home series with DePaul of the BIG EAST conference.
The teams will play in Chicago, Ill. at DePaul's Wintrust Arena during the 2024-25 season and at WSU's Charles Koch Arena in 2025-26. Game dates will be determined by July 1 of each respective year.
The programs have split eight previous meetings. WSU won the most recent in the 2013 CBE Classic semifinals in Kansas City. The schools also faced off in the 2012 Cancun Challenge and in the 1988 NCAA tournament. These will be the first on-campus meetings since a home-and-home in the late 1970s. WSU is 2-0 against the Demons in Wichita (1939, 1978) but 0-3 in Chicago (1937, 1956, 1977).
Wintrust Arena, a 10,387-seat venue in Chicago's Near South Side neighborhood, opened in 2017 and serves as the home of DePaul men's and women's basketball as well as the WNBA's Chicago Sky.
The DePaul trip becomes the third contracted opponent on the Shockers' 2024-25 calendar along with Western Kentucky (away) and Kansas State (home). DePaul's visit to Charles Koch Arena is WSU's first confirmed matchup for the 2025-26 season.
