Police ID 23-year-old who drowned at Kansas lake

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Police have identified a man who drowned Sunday at a Wichita Park as 23-year-old Austin Pederson, according to Police Department spokesman Andrew Ford.

Just before 1p.m. Sunday,  officers responded to a possible submersion at OJ Watson Park, 3022 S McLean Boulevard, Wichita.

It was being reported that a 23-year-old man went into the lake after a ball.  A witnesses present at the scene observed Pederson's eyes rolled back in his head and go under water.

The Wichita Fire Department conducted a water search and located Pederson approximately one hour after the time of call.

Fire and EMS performed CPR on scene. EMS continued life saving measures and transported the Pederson to St. Francis hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:33p.m.
