TOPEKA, Kan. — Hesston climbed to No. 2 in Class 3A, highlighting several area teams ranked in the latest Kansas Volleyball Association poll released Wednesday.
The Swathers improved to 30-3 and moved up one spot from last week's No. 3 ranking. Hesston trails only top-ranked Beloit (32-3) in Class 3A.
Halstead also moved up one position in Class 3A, climbing to No. 6 with a 30-4 record. The Dragons were ranked seventh last week.
In Class 4A, McPherson remained at No. 7 despite improving its record to 25-8. The Bullpups have held the same position for two consecutive weeks.
Class 2A features two area teams in the top six, although both slipped one spot in this week's rankings. Moundridge dropped from fourth to fifth with a 30-4 record, while Inman fell from fifth to sixth at 25-7.
Little River made a move in Class 1A Division I, climbing from fourth to third with a 29-5 record. The Redskins trail only undefeated Centralia (35-0) and Linn (30-1).
In Class 1A Division II, Hutchinson-Central Christian remained at No. 8 after improving to 24-8. The Cougars have won seven matches since last week's rankings.
Elsewhere, Ellinwood remained undefeated at 35-0 and retained the top spot in Class 2A, while Mill Valley (30-0) continued its hold on No. 1 in Class 6A.
The Week 6 rankings reflect records and results submitted to the Kansas Volleyball Association through Monday, Oct. 12.
