Slurry seal starts in Buhler next week

BUHLER, Kan. — The City of Buhler announced Friday that 4th, 5th and Prairie Park in Buhler will get a slurry seal treatment next week, Oct. 7-11.

Slurry seal is a mixture of liquid asphalt and gravel that is spread over asphalt streets to extend the life of the roadway.

The slurry seal process will not leave loose gravel on the surface. Some areas may be covered with sand to protect the new seal coat.

All cars need to be off the street by 7:30 a.m. Cars not moved will be towed to a nearby street out of the way of the construction work.

Please have all automatic watering devices turned off by Sunday evening. Residents shall avoid throwing grass clippings onto the street prior to beginning work.

The street will be closed during the day. There will be access at all times in case of emergency. If possible, avoid the construction areas.

Parking on adjacent streets is recommended during the daytime. Parking in driveways is recommended only if you do not plan to move the vehicle during daytime hours.

The new seal coat contains oil that can damage the finish on your car or stain surfaces such as concrete, carpet or flooring when tracked from the construction areas.

If you drive or walk through a posted construction area, you are responsible for any damage to your vehicle or property.
