Harold Richard “Bud” Stalcup, 94, of Hutchinson, died August 20, 2021, at Waldron Place. He was born September 11, 1926, in Burrton, to Joseph Harold and Lela (Jones) Stalcup.
Bud attended Burrton High School and graduated from Haven High School in 1944. He served for a year in the United States Army in 1945. Bud was a farmer and also did home construction in his early years. He served on the board for Reno County Drainage District No. 2 and Farmer’s Cooperative Elevator in Mount Hope. Bud was also a member of the Haven Lion’s Club and he and Faye were honored as the Reno County Farm Focus Family in 1990. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Burrton.
On April 4, 1947, Bud married Faye Scantlin, at Pleasant Grove Church. They shared 74 years of marriage together on their farm, which they lived on until January 2021.
He is survived by: wife, Faye Stalcup, Hutchinson; daughter, Kathy Geffert (Lynn), Haven; sons, Roger Stalcup, Lawrence, Kevin Stalcup, Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren, Kyle Geffert (Megan), Haven, Keri English (Jared), Grain Valley, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Kyler and Kayden Geffert, Haven, Ainsley and Oliver English, Grain Valley, Missouri; sisters, Ruth Schmucker, Buhler, Carol Winkley, Hutchinson, Jane Koontz, Hutchinson.
Bud was preceded in death by: parents; sisters, Dorothy Kline, Mary Dodds; brother’s-in-law, Norval Kline, Floyd Dodds, Earl Schmucker, Ken Winkley, Gary Koontz.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2021, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, on Longview Road, Burrton. Burial will follow in Burrton Cemetery. The family and church request that all in attendance wear a mask. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
