Hutchinson Police Department Warns Residents of Ongoing Phone Scam

The Hutchinson Police Department is alerting residents to a series of fraudulent phone calls in which scammers impersonate law enforcement officers and falsely claim there is a warrant for the recipient’s arrest.

According to the department, callers are telling residents they have missed a court date or failed to appear for jury duty—common tactics used to pressure victims into providing personal information or making payments.

Police stress that legitimate law enforcement agencies do not make phone calls to notify individuals about warrants.

“If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately,” the department said in its advisory.

Anyone who wants to verify whether a call is legitimate is encouraged to contact the Hutchinson Police Department directly at 620-694-2816.

Residents who believe they have been targeted or who have information about these scam calls are urged to report it to police.
