Joaquin Valtierra-Serrano, 75, died December 15, 2020. He was born September 27, 1945, in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, to Nicanor and Matilde (Serrano) Valtierra.

A resident of Hutchinson since 1992, Joaquin had his own baking business, Panaderia Sol. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson.

He married Maria Soledad Salgado. She died March 13, 2000.

Surviving are daughters, Ana Beatriz Valtierra Salgado, Juarez, Mexico, Santa Trinidad Valtierra Salgado, Hutchinson, Maria Elena Valtierra Salgado, Hutchinson, Hilda Pineda Valtierra, Ulysses; brother, Luis Valtierra, Juarez, Mexico; sisters, Kika Valtierra, El Paso, TX, Concepcion Valtierra, Juarez, Mexico, Gavina Valtierra, Juarez, Mexico; grandchildren, Maura Valtierra, Luisa ‘My Guisaguin’ Valtierra, Jesus Valtierra, all of Hutchinson, Jessica Valtierra, Tulsa, OK, Joaquin Valtierra, Juarez, Mexico; 10 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Joaquin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maria; sons, Jesus Valtierra and Jose Luis Valtierra; three sisters; and one brother.

Parish Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2020, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Father Charles Seiwert officiating.

Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
