GREAT BEND, Kan. — Libero Addy Foster had 16 digs to become the Hutchinson Community College volleyball program’s new freshman record holder for digs, but the Blue Dragons fell to the No. 8 Barton Cougars in a Jayhawk Conference match.

The Cougars had 11 service aces and rolled to a sweep of the Blue Dragons, 25-12, 25-23, 25-13 Wednesday at the Barton Gym.

The Blue Dragons dropped to 19-19 overall and 7-8 in the KJCCC. Hutchinson will close out the 2024 regular season on Saturday at Colby in a 2 p.m. match at the Colby Event Center. First-place Barton improved to 27-2 overall and 14-1 in the KJCCC.

With her first dig of the match, Foster broke the Blue Dragon freshman record for digs – formerly held by McKenzie Steele (2014) and Alissa Bautista (2019) with her 592nd dig this season.

Finishing with a team-high 16 digs, her 34th match with double-figure digs this season, Foster became the fourth Blue Dragon team program history to surpass 600 digs for a season. With 604 digs, Foster is fourth on the single-season digs list.

Atlyn Proctor and Tiana Simmons had 10 kills each to lead the Blue Dragons, who hit .080 in the match.

Proctor hit .150 on 40 attacks with three digs. Simmons hit .108 with seven digs and three block assists.

Middles Precious Johnson and McKenzie Murphy were next with three and two kills, respectively.

The Blue Dragons out-blocked Barton 6-1 with Murphy leading with four block assists.

Sophomore setter Shelbi Wilson had 16 assists and nine digs.

Kassidy Nixon had 13 kills for Barton, which hit .200 for the match. Anna Wierzbicki had five service aces and Mina Kaneko had three aces.
