HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Midway Motors has acquired Allen Samuels Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Hutchinson, a move company officials say keeps the dealership locally owned while expanding inventory, service capacity and long-term opportunities for employees and customers in Reno County and surrounding communities.

The acquisition, announced April 6, marks what Midway leaders described as a significant expansion of the Hutchinson operation, adding Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram brands to the company’s existing local presence. Midway Motors said the transition is intended to preserve trusted customer relationships while bringing additional resources, staffing and systems to the East 30th Avenue dealership.

“It’s an exciting time for us,” Midway Motors Hutchinson CDJR General Manager Gabe Goering said. “We were able to expand our operation from the location there in Hutch and the Chevrolet store, and also add the CDJR flags. It’s a great opportunity for our customers, for employees, and we’re excited about what we’re going to be able to do there.”

Goering said the deal grew out of a long-held interest in the property and a conversation with Allen Samuels Auto Group leadership.

“I’ve driven by that corner for a lot of years, and I’ve often thought, man, what a great place for an opportunity,” Goering said. “It all started with a conversation. We just started chatting over coffee, and next thing you know, we’re acquiring a new dealership.”

The acquisition keeps ownership in Hutchinson rather than shifting the dealership to an out-of-town operator. Company officials said local ownership allows decisions to be made with area customers and families in mind while supporting long-term stability, continued community investment and stronger local economic circulation.

Goering said the addition broadens Midway’s reach well beyond Hutchinson, particularly for customers in western Kansas who rely on the Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram lineup and certified service.

He recalled recently meeting a customer in the service department from Medicine Lodge.

“He said, ‘I come all the way up here because there’s nothing closer for me for a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram store,’” Goering said. “For us, it means a great deal to be able to offer the product and the services that we do into a great trade area out there in Reno County and beyond, especially out to the west.”

Midway Motors said customers should see immediate changes in inventory and operations. Goering said the dealership has already added more pre-owned vehicles and has begun integrating Midway’s internal systems, software, payroll and company processes.

“We really try to embrace the personnel that are there, and then we really want to get the systems and processes brought in that we use at the other locations as soon as possible,” Goering said. “Those things are all being talked about and trained on each and every day.”

The company also highlighted leadership additions at the Hutchinson CDJR location, including service manager Darren Thomas, whom Goering described as a strong community fit, along with Derek Barnes and John Warren in sales leadership roles. Goering said those moves reflect Midway’s emphasis on promoting from within and bringing experienced local employees into expanded roles.

Midway officials said the acquisition should help protect current jobs while creating opportunities for future growth as operations expand. The company also said customers may benefit from a broader selection of new and pre-owned vehicles, stronger financing options, expanded parts inventory and increased service capacity aimed at reducing wait times and improving turnaround.

“Growth means opportunity for our employees,” Goering said. “By expanding locally, we’re able to promote from within, add new roles, and continue building a workplace where our team can grow long term.”

Goering said one of the most encouraging early signs has been employee retention during the ownership transition.

“We’ve been able to bring so many of those employees along,” he said. “I’d say 90% of the employees there are staying on, and so that’s exciting to see. They’re obviously pumped up about the change, and they’re excited to see what we’re able to do there.”

Beyond vehicle sales, Goering emphasized the importance of the dealership’s service department, noting the store offers tires, oil changes and major mechanical repairs, including transmissions, engines and drivetrain work. He said the service side remains a major piece of the business and a key point of customer loyalty.

“There’s a lot of people that really love the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram product, and they really made a connection to that location and to the people that are there,” Goering said. “I couldn’t be happier and more excited to be in the situation we’re in with that dealership.”

Goering also said community involvement will remain central to the dealership’s identity, echoing the company’s emphasis on supporting schools, events and organizations.

“Our dealership is only going to do as well as the community does, period,” Goering said. “You take care of your community, and your store usually does pretty good.”

Midway Motors, which describes itself as a locally owned and operated automotive group serving multiple Kansas markets, said the Hutchinson acquisition is part of its continued commitment to customer service, vehicle selection and community involvement across the state.
