
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 5 Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team bounced back following its first loss in 54 games with a 63-46 win over Barton on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.
Hutchinson is now 18-1 overall, 12-1 in the Jayhawk Conference. The Blue Dragons finished off the regular season sweep of the Cougars.
Landon Forbes knocked down seven 3-pointers for a career-high 21 points to lead the Blue Dragons. The seven made 3-pointers were one shy of tying the single-game record in program history. Forbes also dished off six assists and tallied four steals, and did not commit a turnover.
Hailey Jackson scored 19 points to go along with six rebounds.
Hutchinson led 15-14 after the first quarter and 32-27 at halftime. The Blue Dragons outscored the Cougars 17-10 in the third quarter and 14-9 in the final frame.
The Blue Dragons struggled to shoot it from the floor, knocking down just 36% of their shots, but hit 10 3-pointers.
Barton (8-11, 4-9) was held to 38% from the field, going 2-for-15 from behind-the-arc.
The Cougars were led by Regina Donanu with a career-high 24 points.
Hutchinson will host Fort Hays Tech NW (1-15, 1-11) on Saturday at 2 p.m. inside of the Sports Arena. The game will be broadcasted on KHUT-FM (102.9) and the Blue Dragon Sports Network with pregame coverage starting at 1:45 p.m.
