LYONS, Kan. — The Rice County Sheriff’s Office will host a free Constitutional Carry Legalities class for the public on Saturday, May 9, in Lyons.
The class will begin at 1 p.m. at the Kansas State Extension Office, located at 701 East Main in Lyons, and is expected to last approximately four to five hours.
According to the sheriff’s office, the course will focus on the legal aspects of Constitutional Carry, use of force and deadly force laws in Kansas. The class will be taught by Rice County Undersheriff Michael Miles.
Officials emphasized the event is not a shooting or firearms handling class. No live weapons or ammunition will be allowed in the classroom.
Attendance is limited to 40 participants. Those interested in attending are asked to register by emailing Undersheriff Miles at mmiles@rcsoks.org. Organizers also encouraged participants to comment on the original social media post after registering to help others gauge remaining availability.
The sheriff’s office asked residents to sign up only if they plan to attend so others have an opportunity to participate.
