HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Monarchs closed out their Sunflower League schedule by finishing a 4-0 triumph in seven innings with runs in the fifth and sixth and then closing with an 8-2 win over the Sunflower Seeds Friday night in a nine-inning contest at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson.
In the final game, after plating a single run in the third, the Monarchs blew the game open in the late going with a pair of runs each in the 6th and 7th and a three-spot in the 8th, before the Seeds scored both their runs in the 9th.
Austin Callahan continued to produce, homering and driving in two runs. Easton Rindt and Luke Sartori also had RBIs. Clayton Chadwick had two doubles.
On a night where seven Monarch arms got some work, six of them did not give up a run. Liam Eddy got the win with two innings of hitless work.
The Monarchs finish Sunflower League play at 26-6. They were 8-2 in their last 10 games.
