HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson USD 308 Board of Education approved the hiring of TyReece Berry as the new head boys basketball coach at Hutchinson High School, the board approved at Monday's regularly scheduled meeting.
Berry takes over the Salthawks program after spending five seasons as a junior college assistant coach, including two at Hutchinson Community College and three at Pearl River Community College.
During his two seasons with the Blue Dragons, Hutchinson compiled 46 victories and earned a berth in the NJCAA Tournament.
Berry later spent three seasons at Pearl River Community College, where the program recorded 63 wins during his tenure.
Berry is currently a Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) teacher at Hutchinson High School.
"My family and I are truly blessed, honored and excited to be Salthawks," Berry said in a statement released by Hutchinson High athletics.
Berry replaces Miller, who compiled a 73-61 record over six seasons leading the Salthawks. Miller guided Hutchinson to two Class 5A state tournament appearances, including a fourth-place finish during the 2022-23 season, when the Salthawks finished 22-3.
Miller's resignation was approved by the USD 308 Board of Education in September.
The Salthawks open the Berry era Friday, Dec. 4 at home against Andover Central in the Salthawk Basketball Classic.
