Hutchinson Community College Sophomore Liberty Limon had the best placing of just a handful of Blue Dragon athletics on Friday at the Wichita State Herm Wilson Classic at the Heskett Center.
Day 1 had Blue Dragon athletes in just three events. The bulk of the action will take place on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Limon placed sixth on Friday in the women’s triple jump with a top jump of 34 feet, 4.75 inches. She hit that jump on the first attempts of finals.
Two Blue Dragon triple jumpers earned spots in the finals on Friday. Sophomore Emme Watkins finished with at 32-4.25, which was her first jump in the preliminary round.
Sophomore Lushous Davis led three Blue Dragons in the women’s weigh throw. She placed 14th with a throw of 44 feet even. Chanelle Chandler went 36-7 and places 27th. Hayleigh Burke finished 30th with a top throw of 29 feet, 3 inches.
Freshman Alivia Noll tied for 23rd in the pole vault with a clearances of 8 feet, 9.75 inches.
