Gary Edward Duerson, 80, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 at his home. He was born on January 6, 1942 in Fort Scott to Lyle Edward and Nellie Ossee (Kent) Duerson.
Gary married Alice Brooks on November 24, 1972 at the First Church of God, Wichita. They were married for 49 years.
Gary attended and graduated from Valley Center High School in Valley Center. He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator until retirement. He was a member of Lion of Judah Praise Fellowship, Preston. He enjoyed driving trucks and loved training and showing horses.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; sons, Jerry Brooks, Gary Duerson and John Duerson; niece, Toni Ann Schneider; nephews, Jake Wessel and Luke Wessel; and grandchildren, Shane Schesso, Edward Duerson, Johnathan Duerson, Tyler Duerson and Alex Duerson.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Baby boy Duerson; and sister, Sara Snyder.
Visitation with family present will be Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Lion of Judah Praise Fellowship, Preston, KS. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2022 at Lion of Judah Praise Fellowship, Preston, KS with Dr. Kenneth A. Stanton presiding. Burial will follow at Uniontown Cemetery, in Uniontown, KS.
