PRETTY PRAIRIE, Kan. — According to a message to Hutch Post from Pretty Prairie USD 311 Superintendent Ashley Anderson, Pretty Prairie USD 311 will hold a beam-raising ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 101 N Maple Street in Pretty Prairie for their middle school gym expansion project.
Instead of a traditional groundbreaking, they are going to do a beam raising!
Before the beam is lifted high in the air, and secured into the structure, they are going to get the signatures of all the students and staff on it. The Bulldogs will sign the top area of the beam- it won't be visible once it hangs in the gym, but they will know the signatures are there. The other three sides of the beam will be painted to match the ceiling.
The school will be managing this in three waves- to accommodate the schedules of students and staff.
Schedule for Tuesday, Sept. 10
HS Students/staff sign from 11:34-11:44 (last 10 minutes of 4th hr)
GS Students/staff sign from 11:45-12:04 (K-2 will come first; 3-5 to follow)
MS Students/staff sign from 12:04-12:14 (last 10 minutes of their lunch)
The beam will be placed on Thursday, Sept. 12.
