Arlyss W. Schroeder, 75, of Inman, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 28, 1945 in rural Hillsboro, Kansas, the son of Arthur M. and Pearl E. (Koop) Schroeder.

He graduated from Central Christian School.

He was a farmer and stockman. Arlyss and his brothers did custom silage cutting for 15 years.

Arlyss was united in marriage to Letha Schroeder on July 18, 1970 in Kingman, Kansas.

He was a member of Buhler MB Church, where he was active as an usher for 40 plus years, and worked as the sound technician for church services. Arlyss helped with the Wednesday night meals and taught classes at the church.

Arlyss was a member of the MCC Board, where he helped with the MCC relief sale for 23 years. He was also a member of Farm Bureau since the early 1990’s, the Upper Little Arkansas River Watershed District, Gideon’s International, and was township treasurer. Arlyss held leadership roles and was involved with his children with the 4-H Club. He was involved with Mennonite Disaster Cleanup, where he would help sheetrock and rebuild pasture fences after natural disasters in multiple areas.

He is survived by his wife, Letha, of the home; daughter, Sherry Schroeder of Inman; sons, Mark (Shelly) Schroeder of Inman, Andy (Shelly) Schroeder of Andover, and Ricky (Lisa) Schroeder of Inman; six grandchildren, Brin, Ian, Kayla, Katelyn, Jonathon, and Kimberly Schroeder; brother, Richard (LuWanda) Schroeder of Moundridge; sisters, Sylvia (Ken) Walters of Greenville, Texas, and Gloria (Elden) Friesen of Dinuba, California; and sister-in-law, Elva Schroeder of Buhler.

Arlyss was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elaine Rice and husband, Clyde, and Eldene Schroeder; and brother, Arthur D. Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 at Buhler MB Church. Please wear face masks and social distance. Burial will follow in Buhler East Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22, at Buhler Mortuary.
