DERBY, Kan. (AP) — The Hutchinson Monarchs will look to build on Sunday's convincing victory when they travel to Derby on Tuesday night for a Jayhawk Collegiate League matchup against the Derby Twins.
Hutchinson enters the contest with a 5-1 record after defeating the Twins 12-1 on Sunday night at Hobart-Detter Field. The Monarchs broke the game open with a nine-run sixth inning and have outscored opponents 57-17 through their first six games of the season.
The Monarchs have received strong contributions throughout the lineup during their fast start, while the pitching staff has continued to limit opposing offenses. Hutchinson pitchers combined to allow just two hits in Sunday's win over Derby.
The Twins will look to bounce back on their home field and even the season series after being held to one run in the first meeting.
First pitch is scheduled for Tuesday evening in Derby. Fans unable to attend can follow the action via live video stream on the Derby Twins through the GameChanger app.
