HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Pretty Prairie Rodeo is in town Wednesday through Saturday.
"If people have never gone to rodeos, we have all the standard events," said rodeo announcer Randy Corley. "Timed events like steer wrestling, the tie down roping, the ladies are in the barrel race, the WPRA. Folks, these are some of the best riders you'll ever watch in an arena."
It's a family friendly event all four nights, but there is a special emphasis in the middle of the week.
"Wednesday and Thursday is family night at the rodeo," Corley said. "Kids come out. Kids get back numbers. We give prizes away throughout the night. The kid dances are those two nights, the dances the kids can come in to."
It really is an event where the whole community comes together.
"When people say, oh, they act like it's the NFR," said rodeo clown Robbie Hodges. "It is their NFR, and as long as you keep that mindset, where the most important rodeo in America is the one I'm at, you'll be okay."
Tickets are available at the Pretty Prairie Rodeo Office, call 800-638-2702, visit Woodard Mercantile in Maize or order online at www.pprodeo.com.
