Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The top-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team closes out the non-conference portion of the 2024-25 schedule this weekend with a pair of games at the Barton Classic in Great Bend.

The Blue Dragons (4-0) will play the Kansas Wesleyan JV at 1 p.m. on Friday and Redlands at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Barton Gym.

Both games will be broadcast on Eagle radio. Friday's game will be on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) at 12:45 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Daren Dunn (color) calling the action. Saturdays game will be on KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) with Dunn (PBP) and Dan Naccarato (color) as the broadcast team. Both game will be streamed for free by the Cougar Sports Network.

The Blue Dragons survived a Murray State upset bid last Saturday at the Sports Arena in a 69-68 Hutchinson win to close out the BSN Sports Tip-Off Classic. Sophomore Hailey Jackson tied her career high with 30 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Blue Dragons.

The Kansas Wesleyan JV (1-3) is a replacement for original Classic entry Gogebic Community College, which pulled out of the weekend early in the week. Saturday's matchup vs. Redlands is the third-straight year the Dragons and Cougars play in Great Bend.

Offensively, the Blue Dragons are fourth in the KJCCC in scoring at 84.5 points per game. The Dragons are fourth in field-goal shooting at 42.3 percent. seventh from the 3-point line at 28.6 percent and third in the KJCCC at the free-throw line at 70.5 percent.

Defensively, the Dragons are sixth in scoring allowing 51.5 points per game. They rank sixth in the KJCCC in shooting defense at 32.6 percent and tied for sixth in 3-point defense at 25.0 percent.

Sophomore Hailey Jackson is currently the fourth-leading scorer in the KJCCC at 19.3 points per game. Her 9.8 rebounds per game is sixth in the KJCCC. Jackson has two 3-point-point games and two double-doubles this season.

Freshman Dylan Alexander is seventh in the KJCCC in free-throw shooting at 80.9 percent.

Sophomores Landon Forbes and Jada Pleasant are tied for fifth in the KJCCC in assists at 4.3 per game.
