Hutchinson CC Sports Information
Coming off one of its best offensive performances of the season on Wednesday, the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team looks to continue that trend against Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Saturday.
The No. 20-ranked Blue Dragons (13-4, 8-3 KJCCC) will meet the Tigers (0-17, 0-11) at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sports Arena in the final game of the first round of the double-round robin KJCCC season.
The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 1:45 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Dan Naccarato (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed exclusively and free on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 1:45 p.m.
The Blue Dragons continue to be tied for third place in the KJCCC with Coffeyville and Seward County two game behind league leaders Butler and Dodge City.
A victory on Saturday keeps the Blue Dragons in good position for a strong second-half run in the league. The Dragons open the second half with back-to-back tough games at Garden City on Wednesday and hosting No. 11 Butler next Saturday.
Four players scored in double figures in the Blue Dragons' 86-47 victory on Wednesday at Pratt. Sophomore Noelle Anthon led with a career-high 19 points. The Blue Dragons shot a season's-best 55.2 percent from the field and nailed 10 3-point goals.
Fort Hays Tech Northwest has one less day to prep for the Blue Dragons. The Tigers were at Coffeyville on Thursday and dropped a 68-50 decision to the Red Ravens at Nellis Hall.
First-year head coach Jordan Klein is working to turn the Tiger program around. Since winning 12 games in the 2022-23 season, the Tigers are 4-69 since and are currently on a 29-game losing streak dating back to last season.
The Tigers are averaging 47.2 points per game while shooting 28.3 percent. They average 6.2 made 3-pointers per game. Defensively, The Tigers are allowing 78.1 points per game.
Vitória Fernandes is Fort Hays Tech's leading scorer at 10.4 points per game.
