HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Concerns about the pandemic and questions about whether polls will be open for the August primary are showing up at the Reno County Clerk's Office.

Jenna Fager of the Elections Office says that, so far, they have received 3,973 advanced ballot requests. That compares with 827 requests in the 2016 primary election. The county recently sent out more than 30,000 applications to registered voters offering the chance to apply for an advanced ballot.

Fager wanted to stress that the polls will be open for the primary and general elections, and measures will be taken to keep workers and the voting public safe.

The deadline for submitting an application for an advanced ballot is July 28.
