HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County now has a second active case of COVID-19 in a resident who is not currently in the county.
According to the Reno County Health Department, the newest positive case is female, under the age of eighteen with an unknown source of exposure. The patient is currently out of state with extensive travel history over the last week and a half. She is currently in isolation out of state per guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Further information cannot be released as case contact investigation is underway.
Forty-three previously confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Reno County have since completed recovery and are non-symptomatic per disease investigation guidelines furnished by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Reno County has ran 1,879 tests with 1,835 negatives for a positive case rate of 2.34%. A total of 2.99% of Reno County has been tested thus far.
The health department continues to highly encourage Reno County residents to be dependent on health authorities to provide the most accurate information on COVID-19.
The health department also encourages social distancing guidelines, proper hygiene practices as well as recommends mask use during peaceful protest and marching activities.
