HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County sales tax collection was positive for the month of May. The total sales tax revenue was $382,900. While it is a drop of about $4,600 from this time last year it is more than $60,000 higher than last month, and the second-best May in at least six years.
It should be noted that sales tax numbers for May reflect shopping for the month of March and does not fully reflect the impact of the pandemic.
Many expected the numbers to still be strong due to mass shopping as people stocked up ahead of any stay at home orders.
