🏀 KU signee Peterson named McDonald's All-American game MVP

KU signee Darryn Peterson scored 18 points and was named the game's co-MVP of the McDonald's All-American boys game at Barclays Center on Tuesday., leading the West over the East 105-92 on Tuesday night in the McDonald’s All-American boys game at Barclays Center.

Peterson helped lead the West to the 105-92 win over the East.

He was recently named the 2025 Naismith Boys' High School Player of the Year.

Peterson becomes the fourth future Jayhawk to win the MVP of the all-star game, joining Jacque Vaughn, Josh Jackson and Check Diallo. 

He finished with a team-high 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 1-of-6 from behind the arc. He also brought down seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. 

Peterson is a 6-foot-5 guard that plays at Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif.  He averaged 23.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.9 steals in his senior campaign.

Although there are several Jayhawks that have entered the transfer portal, Peterson told KU head coach Bill Self not to be worried, that he plans to play next winter for the Jayhawks.

Peterson is the 52nd KU signee to play in the annual high school all-star game.
