Rodolfo ‘Rudy’ Hernandez, 74, of Hutchinson, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2020. He was born September 3, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Eleodoro and Elvira (Juarez) Hernandez.
Rudy worked at Cessna and was a letter carrier for the United States Post Office for over 30 years. He enjoyed the patrons on his route. Gardening was his passion and he loved taking care of his community garden and having his grandchildren in the garden with him. Rudy thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their sports. He served as a medic in the Army Reserves and was an active member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
On April 12, 1969, Rudy married Margo Guillen in Garden City. They shared over 51 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Margo Hernandez of Hutchinson; son, Curtis (Donna) Hernandez of Bel Aire; daughter, Kimberly (Mike) Hill of Garden City; grandchildren, Adam, Ashley, Brayden, James, and Maya; and brother, Alfonso Hernandez of Hutchinson.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. Private family graveside service will be Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2020, through Friday, May 22, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.
