Rcat to expand service

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Public Transportation Director Barbara Lilyhorn announced that, effective May 18, the transportation service will be expanding its schedule and hours of operation. The bus service has been running on a reduced schedule during the pandemic.

Starting Monday, fixed routes will operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Rcat will operate four fixed routes on the following schedule:

Routes 1 North, 1 South and Route 3 will operate hourly.

Route 2 East will operate at 7 a.m., 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. And then 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Route 2 Northwest will operate at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., then noon, 2 p.m.  and 4 p.m.

Paratransit will operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

County On Demand will operate from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All vehicles will observe social distancing for seating passengers and perform additional disinfection and cleaning practices.

Passengers are asked to observe good hygiene with frequent handwashing and responsible respiratory etiquette such as coughing and sneezing into their elbow bend and limiting physical contact with drivers and other passengers.
