HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Regional Medical Center is slightly loosening its visitor policy.
"We'll allow one registered visitor with each patient," said Chuck Welch with the hospital. "We would prefer not to have a family of seven show up and then all seven people cycle through. We want to start out kind of a crawl, walk, run scenario."
Please attempt to practice social distancing when in common areas at the hospital.
"Normal visiting hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.," Welch said. "We're going to try to keep folks out of the cafeteria right now for the time being and just try to reserve that for our staff. That's going to be the marching orders going forward for the next few weeks."
It's not that there won't be a limited amount of flexibility, particularly regarding children, but getting yes to any exceptions is more likely with a call ahead.
"We'll handle each one case by case," Welch said. "We'll still make accommodations for pediatric patients' parents, you know, if you're going to come and have a baby, things like that, if you have those types of questions, I would encourage anyone to call and ask those questions."
The hospital's phone number is (620) 665-2000.
