HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man who was sentenced to life in prison will see his case go before the Kansas Supreme Court on Monday.
Thirty-five-year-old Quinton Moore was sentenced to prison on a conviction of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 42-year-old Clarence Allen in September of 2017. Under the sentence, Moore won't be eligible for parole for 51 1/2 years.
Allen was found shot multiple times in a home in the 1700 block of East 30th. Moore fled the scene of the shooting but was taken into custody. Under Miranda, Moore admitted to the shooting. Moore had been Allen's on-again, off-again roommate before the shooting.
In his appeal, Moore contends the district court erred by denying his motion to suppress his confession and his request for a voluntary intoxication jury instruction. Moore also claims the state committed a reversible error during closing argument and that those cumulative errors denied him a fair trial.
