HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Sales tax revenue in Reno County fell in April when compared to the previous year. Sales tax totaled $328,258, a drop of $10,793.

It does not reflect the economic downturn we are in due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the number reflects shopping for the month of February. The total is also $148,000 less than the previous month.

All eyes will be on the May sales tax report not only at the local level but at the state level. That’s because it will show the revenue for the month of March and the slowdown in the economy.

To date, the county has taken in $1,468,000 for 2020 a drop of $57,000 from the first four months of 2019.
