HUTCHINSON, Kan. — South Hutchinson police and Hutchinson Police along with the Reno County Sheriff's Department warned the public on Wednesday of a circulating scam.

Hutchinson Police said in a Facebook post, "We have received a lot of calls about a Lt. Johnson or Det. Meyers calling people saying they are with the Reno County Sherriff's office saying that the person who they called has a warrant for their arrest and they need to pay them. They have used the phone number of (620)794-6005. THIS IS A SCAM!

The South Hutchinson department also noted that the scammer wanted payment through PayPal.

The Sheriff's Department chimed in on Facebook too. They said, our Detectives do good work but they will NEVER let you pay a fine by PayPal. You also can't pay any court fine by Google gift card, Venmo or squirrel pelts.

The departments say, don't give them any information, just hang up.
