Abbyville Rodeo postponed

Posted Apr 21, 2020 3:32 PM

ABBYVILLE, Kan. — The Abbyville Booster Club which sponsors the annual Abbyville Frontier Days Rodeo has announced that this year’s rodeo scheduled for May 15 & 16 has been postponed due to the coronavirus.

“We know people want to get out and do things but we just don’t know what the governor and the health department are going to allow,” said President Rod Bergkamp. “We’re in an uncertain time and we want our fans, sponsors, contestants, rodeo personnel and volunteers to be safe and to feel secure. Even when the restrictions are relaxed so that we could have the rodeo, it would take a month or more to put on the finishing touches.”

The rodeo board is in contact with the stock contractor and the PRCA, who sanctions the rodeo, looking for a future date. “We hope to have a rodeo in 2020, we just don’t know for sure when it will be,” said Bergkamp.
