SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Collins Bus has announced it has furloughed a number of employees.

Chris Hiebert, vice president and GM of Collins issued this statement:

“Due to current conditions, many of our suppliers, vendors and customers have needed to close temporarily, which has affected our business. As a result, we have been forced to implement a temporary shutdown at Collins Bus Corporation, effective April 19th. Our sales, warranty and customer support departments will remain open during this time. Each day, we will review the need to re-start production, which could be as early as April 27th. Our Human Resources team is supporting the temporarily laid off employees with guidance on how to apply for unemployment benefits, and we have also set up an employee website which will be updated daily with key information.”

Collins is a leader in small bus manufacturing in the United States.
