HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson fire crews worked two fires Wednesday afternoon.
The first was a grass fire located at 3600 N. Lucille. Fire Chief Steven Beer says a fire in a burn barrel got away and started the fire. Beer says the fire was contained to the property and burned about an acre of ground. Several buildings were in the area, but no damage was reported.
The second fire was called in at the Sonoco paper facility just before 3 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find a large pile of paper and cardboard ablaze. Two aerial trucks poured water on the fire for more than an hour. Stutzman Refuse was then called in to haul the debris away.
No damage was reported and there were no injuries in either fire.
