HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson USD 308 announced that, starting Friday, it will begin handing out permits for the lunch program. The permit format is similar to one adopted by the Buhler school district last week.
The district will be passing out meal permits at all three locations: McCandless, HMS-7 and HMS-8. The meal permit will allow a parent to pick up the number of meals on their permit without children needing to be in the car.
In order for all children in your household to receive a meal, you must bring all of them on Friday when you pick up your permit. Once you receive your permit, you will just need to show your permit in the drive-thru line to receive meals without your children.
The option allows more flexibility for parents and limits exposure for both families and the UDS 308 staff. Walkups are still welcome and meals are free for anyone ages 1-18.
Meals are served Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The district is averaging about 800 meals served per day.
