HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Administrator Randy Partington told commissioners Tuesday that they will discuss and take possible action on a $1 million cut in the current budget during their meeting next week.
“Every single department in Reno County has made cuts . . . EMS was also able to make some cuts,” Partington said. “We’ll have just a little over a million recommended to the 2020 budget for your review.”
Partington says the cuts come from a wide variety of areas in each department.
“It’s everywhere from vacancies in personnel, some temporary positions that might not be filled this year to capital vehicle purchases,” Partington noted. “Some are just line items, commodities and travel expenses that will be reduced from their budgets.”
The budget news could be even worse for the following year. Partington also tells Hutch Post that next year’s revenue shortfall could be between 5% and 8% for 2021. That budget process is just getting underway.
