HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson USD 308 School Board will give consideration to six new courses and renaming three others during tonight’s regular meeting.
The classes include three childhood development courses and two new engineering classes. Also included on the list is printmaking, graphic design, trends in transportation which is collision repair work, and biotechnical engineering.
Also this evening the Board will consider reseeding two of the practice fields at the USD 308 complex. The lone bid was from Turf Solutions of Inman at a cost of $94,265. The maintenance staff is wanting to go with more expensive Bermuda. It is more durable and has a much shorter mowing season. This would save the district about $12,000 in maintenance costs on the fields.
Bermuda grass can also be cut shorter than fescue or bluegrass which makes the turf play more like the main game field at the complex or artificial turf.
The board will also go over reports from several schools and hear the usual board reports. Tonight’s meeting of the USD 308 School Board begins at 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on the district's website.
