CCC meeting pushed back to April 16

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Census Complete Count Committee meeting that was supposed to be Thursday has been moved to next Thursday, April 16, at 1 p.m. as the committee continues to work on getting the count in.

Committee Chair Ryan Hvitlok says the city’s response to the census has been good, although the participation rate has fallen a bit:

68.3 million households nationwide have already responded

Kansas has slipped in response rating but is still No. 10 and has a response rate of 50.5%, greater than the national rate of 46.2%

Reno County is ranked No. 264 out of 3,202 counties in the U.S. (54.0% response rate)

Hutchinson is ranked No. 3,745 out of 19,130 cities in the U.S. (53.0% response rate)

Some good news and some bad news, the census tracts in the northern part of Hutchinson are now over 50.9% response rate, with Tract 3 (northwest side) at 69.3% according to Hvitlok.

There is also some work to do in the tracts the committee was anticipating would be difficult to count. Census Tract 6 (downtown area) has the lowest response rate at 35.5% and only 15.3% internet response.
