HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The meal program in Nickerson USD 309 is a success.

"We have seven sites now," said Superintendent Jeanne Stroh on Tuesday. "To date, we have served 7,818 breakfasts and the same number of lunches. That's pretty remarkable and it grows a little bit every day."

With continued growth, food service director Robin McGlynn has a daily challenge, but she has some help.

"They base the day after on the day before and then they're just always ready to make more," Stroh said. "Some of our transportation people are helping, going back to one of the kitchens and getting more breakfasts and lunches and going back to the site when that site starts to run a little low."

Hot meals are available from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Nickerson High School and Nickerson Elementary along with South Hutch Elementary's back alley.

Cold Sandwich Meal pickup is available at Westside Villa and 7th Street and 5th and Main, South Hutchinson in the Simply Good Overstock Parking Lot and at 13th and Arthur and 12th and Arthur in Hutchinson.
