Laurene Reimer of Buhler, age 94, passed away April 1, 2020 at Pleasant View Home in Inman.

She was born April 24, 1925, the fifth of six children to CJ and Mary Schmidt. Her younger years were spent growing up on the family farm near Buhler. After graduating from Buhler High School, Laurene worked at Buhler Mills.

On Oct. 28, 1949, she married Joel M. Reimer of Buhler. Laurene spent her years being a dedicated homemaker and was devoted to life on the farm. She and Joel were partners on the farm for 49 years and created lifelong memories for family, extended family and friends. He preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1999. Laurene remained on the farm for 15 more years. She was a bright and caring person to family and friends. Her delicious cooking and baking will always be remembered and missed. Many great times were spent attending activities for children and grandchildren. K-State also held a special place, traveling to many bowl games with family.

Laurene was a member of the Buhler Mennonite Church where for years she helped organize the annual noodle soup supper. She also found the time to work at the Sunshine Home in Buhler for 19 years and later volunteered at the Hutchinson Etc. Shop.

In addition to her husband, Laurene was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tracy Robinson, her parents, three brothers Wilbur Schmidt, Edwin J. Schmidt, Marvin Schmidt and one sister Elva Kentfield.

Laurene is survived by her children; Suzanne (Monty) Wedel, Manhattan, Mike (Elize) Reimer, Tucson, Arizona, Barb Reimer, Tempe, Arizona, Sandy (Dick) Hayden, Wichita, Jeff (Maribeth) Reimer, Hutchinson, eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, brother Harlo (Glennis) Schmidt, Buhler and many nieces and nephews.

Due to state mandates and the serious nature of COVID-19, the family will have a private service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Buhler Mennonite Church in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
