HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Humanities Kansas has awarded $3,498 to the Reno County Museum in support of “Reno County Museum Digitization Project: Pathway to the Past.”
The program is an effort to digitize the museum’s entire archival collection including books, diaries, journal entries, photographs, maps and oral histories. Lead Archivist Thomas Walters will serve as project director.
The museum will begin by processing then digitizing the Pat Mitchell collection. For digitization, the museum is partnering with Wichita State University. WSU will handle scanning artifacts and host the images on its site.
This partnership will allow the museum to digitize large format items that cannot be scanned in-house and make the collections available online.
