Injury accident on icy road in Reno County Friday morning

TURON, Kan. — Icy conditions Friday morning resulted in an injury accident on K-61 just west of Turon.

According to a post from the Reno County Sheriff's Office, just after 5 a.m., 50-year-old Peter Ford of Farmington, New Mexico was traveling northeast on K-61 when he hit a patch of ice on the curves just west of Turon and slid into the south ditch then rolled over. He wasn't hurt, but his truck was hit by another semi.

The second semi driver, 54-year-old Steven Sims of Rock Island, Illinois was trapped in his cab and was hurt. Sims was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Ford was buckled up. Sims was not. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
